Does anyone know what this line means -
"The lib ray of seas, obscured by tears"
The "lib ray of seas" part really puzzles me.

The line you're asking about is part of the second stanza of the song. The correct words are: "But it recedes, obscured by tears."

I meant to put the lyrics in the previous post - here they are:

14. "Fate's Wide Wheel" From The Episode GLITTER ROCK 3:02
(Mike Post/ Velton Ray Burch, Chris Ruppenthal/Mark Leggett)
Music Corp of America, Inc. (BMI)
MCA Music Publishing, A Div. of MCA INC. ASCAP
Performed by Scott Bakula
Background Vocals: Rick Palomby, Bernadette Barlow

As I travel in space and time,
I want to stay,
I want to go,
You see my face, but it?s not mine,
But you can't see, you'll never know.

How can we meet if I'm not there?
Our hearts may touch,
Our bodies close,
But time divides what we might share,
And sends us all where no one goes.

CHORUS I'm just a traveler, upon the sea,
Of time, of life, of fate's wide wheel,
Just a traveler, In this mystery,
The me I am is all that's real to me.

We all begin our life alone,
We live, we love all through the years,
Yet deep inside, we long for home,
But it recedes, obscured by tears.

I cried a time, It falls past me,
The door of fate, remains asleep,
But in my soul, this hope burns free,
Oh please let there be one finally.

CHORUS (Plus final line repeats)

And for as much as I love "Somewhere In The Night" (voted in the poll as the favorite) this is song is my favorite of all the songs Scott sang on QL. So now you know who cast the lone vote for FWW in the poll. <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif" />

Thanks

It is my favorite song on the soundtrack too. Loved it for years. I found two different sites today that had incorrect lyrics for parts of the song. I thought maybe I had been hearing it wrong all of this time. Now I know I was not.

Re: Thanks

I too have seen various lyrics listed for this song, and agree with Sherdran's version - except for the last line.
I am convinced the version I have seen for that is correct:

Oh please let there be one final leap

What do the rest of you guys think?

This is a fascinating subject, and there is even a site dedicated to it -
www.kissthisguy.com
where you can find all kinds of misheard lyrics, and even post your own.
Hours of innocent fun!

Re: Thanks

You're right. I just listened to the song on my "Quantum Leap" CD. The last word is, in fact, "leap".

Fate's Wide Wheel

This is so funny... I was going to ask this very question a few days ago, and then I decided to try looking it up. I, too, found a few things that contradicted each other. It amazed me that quite a few people think the last line says, "Oh please, let there be one, a final leave."

(Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but go figure. They obviously didn't realize the song is about QUANTUM LEAP! "Final Leap")

After discussing it with MJ, this is what we both agreed on:

As I travel in space and time
I want to stay; I want to go
You see my face, but it?s not mine
What you can?t see, you?ll never know

How can we meet, if I?m not there?
Our hearts may touch, our bodies close
But time divides what we might share
And sends us somewhere no one goes

I?m just a traveler, upon the sea
Of time, of life, of Fate?s Wide Wheel
Just a traveler, in this mystery
The me I am, is all that?s real to me

We all begin this life alone
We live; we love, all through the years
Yet deep inside, we long for home
But it recedes, obscured by tears

I cry for time, it falls past me
The door of faith remains asleep
But in my soul, this hope burns free
Oh, please let there be one final leap

I?m just a traveler, upon the sea
Of time, of life, of Fate?s Wide Wheel
Just a traveler, in this mystery
The me I am, is all that?s real to me
The me I am, is all that?s real to me

That seems to make the most sense to me. Hope that helps too! :)
