As a Chippendales dancer named Rod "The Bod," Sam must suffer through the women throwing themselves at him while making sure a hearing-impaired woman realizes her dream of becoming a dancer instead of becoming a prostitute and dying of AIDS.

This was a great episode. It kind of reminds me of Flashdance.

this is also on my list as a top fav of mine, i love how Sam has to learn to commincate with a deaf girl, and how an amazing deaf girl she is. Sign language is awsome, I wamt to learn it and I learned a lot of neat signs from this episode like "Quantum Leap" of course even though the actual guestures translate to 'magic jump'.

And Also, I loved the beginning after Sam shut himself in his dressing room, all those kissy marks plasterd all over him is sooooo sexy, I wish I could have been the one that put them there.

But seriously, I love it whenever Scott can showcase his singing and dancing abilities, and add on the fact that his foot was dislocated--that dance scene with him and Debbie Allen was bloody fantastic.

It reminded me of Flashdance too! I was expecting to hear "What a Feeling!" start playing. Plus, it was educational...i now know how to sign "quantum leap", hehe.

I wasn't impressed by this episode at all. It wasn't very interesting, unforgetable or something. the only thing that make it "special" was all the story with Diana,who's deaf,But it just wasn't enough.
Defently one of my last 10 of the series.
BTW i wounder who's the one in the QL crew that know a deaf person that gave his/her experience with their relationships to Paul Brown's script(Is it Paul?!)

How's this for an "Oh Boy" moment?

I was sitting here at work, portable DVD player on the desk, and this episode comes on. As the Chippendales are dancing on the screen, Chief (my boss) comes in. He looks at the screen (on which the Chippendales were still dancing), looks at me, and says, "Let's try to keep the volume down on that. It's bleeding through on the radio." He then gives me a rather strange look, and leaves the room.

This episode makes me think about how inconsiderate my co-workers are at one of my jobs. When she goes about not wanting people to treat her differently. I've have a hearing problem my whole life. The co-workers at one of my jobs act like I should be cool about not knowing what they just said in front of me when their heads are turned

Not a family episode - strippers and hookers from beginning to (almost the) end. Tsk tsk.

Loved seeing Debbie Allen in this - she really is a wonderful dancer, as was the woman who danced for Diana.

Even the hubby can "sign" "Quantum Leap" now! lol

One question: why did Sam initially say "No, not the 70's again?"

They didn't use a dance double for Diana, did they? I thought it was the actress.

Sam hates the 70s. He hates disco. And it was a silly decade, but looking back, it seems pretty good now!

I have no idea who made it. <OT digression>Ever since I saw "The Fellowship of the Ring" movie, I can't pass a road sign that says "DO NOT PASS" without remembering Gandalf on the bridge. Literally. </OT digression>

I love this episode. I might start learning British sign language. It'd be useful. Throughout the whole eisode I thought of Evelyn Glennie (that is her name, isn't it?), a deaf percussionist. She often plays bare foot so she can feel the vibrations and tell what she's doing.

I liked this episode more than I thought that I would when I saw the teaser for it on the previous episode. It wasn't one of my favorites, but it was a well-rounded episode.

I don't know for sure, but he could have made that '70s remark because he was a male strip bar, and it was more wild in the 1970s. Just a weak guess on that.

I can't remember which episode it was - Disco Inferno maybe? - but in one Sam definitely described the 70s as 'the decade that taste forgot'. He was, by his own admission, a 'meganerd' growing up. The 70's would have been when he was 17 - 27. He probably thought that most young people around that time were too superficial and irresponsible.

I think there was one thing that was out of harmony with Sam - when he danced with the manager of the dance company (don't now the name yet). That was disco dancing of the 70s and I can't believe that Sam likes to dance like that.

Otherwise I like this episode very much. I love that he is attentive and worried about Diana. And the beginning is very cute - poor Sam.

But I wonder if a deaf person really can dance, especially to a song like "Daybreak" with noch much bass. The dancing in this ep was great.

Interesting note.

I was talking with my local Costco manager about computer issues and DVD burning. He wondered why I burned so many DVD's. I explained that many QL and/or Scott fans wanted copies of material that was unavailable commercially.

He asked me if I had ever seen the ep Private Dancer (silly man). He had one date in college with Rhondee Beriault. Small world.

This was a great episode. Sam's reaction to finding out who he's leapt into is cute. Poor Sam. :-) I must say Scott looks pretty dang good in the Chippendale outfit. ;-)

Not one of my favorites. Basically felt ripped off - Sam leaps into the life of a Chippendales dancer and we never get to see him do a Chippendales routine? Boo! All we see is him leaping in and then trying to get off the stage as quickly as possible.
