Hi everyone,
I may not say it very often, but a lot of the people on this board mean a lot to me. It seems that anytime there's big news in my life, you're the ones to hear it first.
However, a friend of mine who's been very close to me in the past (friends for 12 years, ever since grade four), and I haven't seen much of in the past 2.5 years or so, is in the hospital. He has cysitc fibrosis and this deadly disease has decided it's time up.
I went to visit him tonight; he's in good spirits regardless. He was going to be married this Summer to a wonderful girl that I met tonight. He wanted to graduate from Western, and surprisingly, we were both in the same program with the same aspirations upon graduation. I just got in contact with him again about a month ago and had planned on getting together with him more frequently.
He now has about three days to live. I've already attended funerals for three people this month and unfortunately it seems there will be another.
I hope you will all pray for Darren and his family... I'm going to go visit him again tomorrow, which will probably be my last time seeing him... I expect he'd like to spend his final days with his family.
This has hit me really hard, so I think I'm going to have to distance myself from the Internet for a while... sorry for going on so long, but I just want to say, I am glad to have your friendship, and I will return, after I've had time to heal after such a horrible start to this year.
... Mike.
