Default Australia Day

Today is Australia Day

Hip Hip Horray

A day to celebrate being Australian, having BBQ's watching fireworks, singing "I come from a land downunder" at the top of our lungs and pretending we know the words to the Australian National Anthem (which is Advance Australia Fair, not God Save The Queen), getting sunburnt and having rather too much to drink.

Here is an awsome picture of last years australia day in Perth, Lightning, Sunset, a Comet, and the greatest of Aussie icons, the Beach
all in one image.

In addition to the obvious features in the photo, look between the two
displays of lighting up the sky to see the third - McNaught's Comet. The
photo was taken just north of Hillary's Marina, which you can see the
harbour wall on the left with fireworks being launched

That is an excellent picture, especially for an amateur weather nut/ space geek like myself!

Yes ATO, it is a great pic, I sent you a better copy of this photo to your e-mail yesterday so if you haven't checked recently, it should be there.

How did I miss this post yesterday? The Melbourne skyline was pretty similar last evening - only without the comet!! What an awesome photo!

Here are the words to Advance Australia Fair Bexter :P

Ahem... (Da DA da da da da da da... da DA... da da... da daaaaaaaaaaaa)

"Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free...
We've golden soil and wealth for toil
Our home is girt by sea...
Our land abounds in Nature's gifts
Of beauty, rich and rare...
In History's page let every stage
Advance Australia Fair

In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia Fair...

Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We'll toil with heart and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours
Renouned to all the lands...
For those who've come across the seas
With boundless plains to share
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair

In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia Fair."

HAPPY AUSTRALIA WEEK!!!

LOL. On a slightly related note, some kids sing it as...

"Australians all love ostriches
Four minus one makes three..."
