Sam Theme

Windows Movie Maker is pretty good for music videos, particularly if you've not used a video editing program before, and I believe it's free to download, from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx

I also recommend Ulead Movie Studio, and it's a good idea to go in and play around with the programs before making a full music video.

Hope this helps!

You have to buy Ulead Movie Studio. It costs about $70, and you can download a trial here: http://www.ulead.com/vs/. To be honest, version 10 hasn't changed all that much since the version I have, 8, so it might be worth looking in the bargain bins at local computer stores to see if you can find previous versions on sale.

I don't know about the States, but here in England versions of things like Corel Paint and Adobe Photoshop and such like which are 2-3 versions behind the latest are sometimes given away as complete programs on cover cds on computer magazines. Ulead Movie Studio sounds like the sort of thing that may well come under the same category. The cover price of these mags may be 5-10 pounds (or dollars) but that still beats $70 purchase price.

Cover cds mostly just feature trial software, but as I said, once in a while an earlier version of an application is included in its entirety. It can't hurt to keep your eyes open.

ok, well I can't use anything I need to pay for because I don't have the money and my mom has been struggling with some over due payments, we are not even affording my college classes, my uncle and grandparents are having to step in, volintarily though.

Hey, for some reason I already mysteriously have Windows Movie Maker, hehe yay. my best friend and I might fiddle with it on New Years eve.

anyway, I found a song a few days ago that made me think of Sam, this is a good song from Al to Sam.

Rascal Flatts
My Wish

I hope the days come easy and moments pass slow,
and each road leads you where you want to go,
and if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
if it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but you never forget,
all the ones who love you, and the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
and you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
and always give more than you take.

But More than anything, Yeah, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
your dreams stay big, your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
and while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish. Yeah.

That's a lovely song!

Windows Movie Maker is an integral part of XP I believe, so if that is your OS then it should be installed automatically.

Ok, so I was randomly thinking of the Song Reflection that Christina Aguliara sings for the Disney movie Mulan, and so I played my soundtrack to hear the song. And putting aside that its from a young woman's point of view, the words are soo perfect for Sam.

Look at me
You may think you see
Who I really am
But you'll never know me
Every day
It's as if I play a part
Now I see
If I wear a mask
I can fool the world
But I cannot fool
my heart

Who is that girl I see
Staring strait back at me?
When will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

I am now
In a world where I have to
hide my heart
And what I believe in
But somehow
I will show the world
what's inside my heart
And be loved for who I am

Who is that girl I see
Staring strait back at me?
Why is my reflection
someone I don't know?
Must I pretend that I'm
Someone else for all time?
When will my reflection show
who I am inside?

There's a heart that must
be free to fly
that burns with a need
to know the reason why

why must we all conceal
what we think
how we feel?
must there be a secret me
I'm forced to hide?

I won't pretend that I'm
someone else for all time
When Will my reflection show
Who I am inside?
When Will my reflection show
Who I am inside?

I kinda think that this song is Quantum Leap-ish:

LIFE IS A HIGHWAY - Tom Cochrane....or Rascal Flatts..whichever you prefer.

Life's like a road that you travel on
When there's one day here and the next day gone
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand
Sometimes you turn your back to the wind
There's a world outside every darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
Where the brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore
We won't hesitate, break down the garden gate
There's not much time left today

Chorus:
Life is a highway
I want to ride it all night long
If you're going my way
I want to drive it all night long
Through all these cities and all these towns
It's in my blood and it's all around
I love you now like I loved you then
This is the road and these are the hands

From Mozambique to those Memphis nights
The Khyber Pass to Vancouver's lights
Knock me down get back up again
You're in my blood I'm not a lonely man
There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough, this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Tell 'em we're survivors

(chorus x2)

There was a distance between you and I
A misunderstanding once but now
We look it in the eye
There's no load I can't hold
Road so rough this I know
I'll be there when the light comes in
Tell 'em we're survivors
(chorus x3)

There is an annoying song in the British charts at the moment, and whilst it mostly has absolutely nothing remotely QL ish about it, two bits make me think of Sam:

My minds not perfect but it’s sincere
You’d be amazed at what you can achieve in a year
Say you tried so hard, but your hearts on a switch
And I know you tried so hard but your hearts on a switch

So, when you look in the mirror
Reflecting back at you someone that you don’t knoooow
Ooo that’s just made your head spin around
So get your self together, yeah
Get your feet back on the gro-o-o-o-o-ound

The song is 'Same Jeans' by The View

Some of "You Can Call Me Al" by Paul Simon reminds me a bit of Sam's confusion and disorientation after leaping:

A man walks down the street
He says why am I short of attention
Got a short little span of attention
And wo my nights are so long
Wheres my wife and family
What if I die here
Wholl be my role-model
Now that my role-model is
Gone gone
He ducked back down the alley
With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl
All along along
There were incidents and accidents
There were hints and allegations

If youll be my bodyguard
I can be your long lost pal
I can call you betty
And betty when you call me
You can call me al
Call me al

A man walks down the street
Its a street in a strange world
Maybe its the third world
Maybe its his first time around
He doesnt speak the language
He holds no currency
He is a foreign man
He is surrounded by the sound
The sound
Cattle in the marketplace
Scatterlings and orphanages
He looks around, around
He sees angels in the architecture
Spinning in infinity
He says amen! and hallelujah!

Me too! I've always thought that. Except that I can't see Al going for some roly-poly little bat-faced girl. :D I imagine this song as a duet--with Sam doing most of the singing, fortunately. :D

Sam: If you'll be my bodyguard
I can be your long-lost pal

Al: I can call you Sammy
And Sammy when you call me
You can call me al
Call me al

OK, Al only calls him "Sammy" maybe once in the whole series--at the end of Camikaze Kid. But it needs 2 syllables. And you really wouldn't even have to change anything else.

Actually He also calls him Sammy in Its a Wonderful Leap
"Trun off the engine, and get out of the car!"
"Ah you better do it Sammy, he looks nervous"

I think its cute that Al calls him Sammy I think that would make a great duet song for them.

theres even a vid of this on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVdw19aqZrM
I cannot thank you enough for pointing me towards this. I've loved this song and always thought it reminded me of Sam. I was planning on making a QL vid to this song, but haven't had the time to sit down and write a "script" of scenes to go with the lyrics.
I usually don't like music vids that just have still pictures, but the song is just so perfect that I love this just the same.
Thank you so much:hurray:

Hey I just downloaded this great song and I noticed as I read the lyircs online that I think(Emphsis there because I dont know for sure but I thought I saw a connection) they mildly work for Sam. Although unlike the rest of the songs in this thread it has more of an indirect connection. You have to pay close attention to it and read the lyrics inturpritively.

Artist: Rob Thomas Lyrics
Song: Little Wonders Lyrics

let it go,
let it roll right off your shoulder
don't you know
the hardest part is over
let it in,
let your clarity define you
in the end
we will only just remember how it feels

our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain

let it slide,
let your troubles fall behind you
let it shine
until you feel it all around you
and i don't mind
if it's me you need to turn to
we?ll get by,
it's the heart that really matters in the end

our lives are made
in these small hours
these little wonders,
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away,
but these small hours,
these small hours still remain

all of my regret
will wash away some how
but i can not forget
the way i feel right now

in these small hours
these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away but these small hours
these small hours, still remain,
still remain
these little wonders
these twists & turns of fate
time falls away
but these small hours
these little wonders still remain

Here is a really good Song for Sam by Rascal Flatts:

Stand

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you've lost your fight
But you’ll be alright

You’ll be alright
Chorus:
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand,
Then you stand
2.
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on
Chorus:
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
[Stand lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand,
Yeah then you stand.
Bridge:
Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place
Ooohhh
Chorus:
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you’ve had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand,
Then you stand
Yeah then you stand.
Yeah then you stand.
Yeah baby
ohhhhhhhhh
ohhhhhhhhh
ohhhhhhhhh
ooohhhhhhh
then you stand
