Any feedback should be sent to her through me, at khaight@netcom.com. We hope the feedback will be positive. B-) +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ HEADER/DISCLAIMER re: "CIRCLES" The following story, entitled "Circles", is a crossover story involving the genres "Quantum Leap" and "The Equalizer". It is a slash story, so consider yourself warned. It is NOT a QL slash story. I have portrayed Sam and Al as heterosexual (no tricks, no strings). However, by the nature of the crossover (Sam's Leaping), these two characters are _exposed_ to homosexuality in both an immediate and graphic sense. There is a strong sexual tension throughout the story, though actual explicit sex is limited to one flashback sequence, involving Control and McCall. Those familiar with Equalizer slash will not find this particularly odd, though I have noted that I seem to be the only person who writes about Control in any context, much less a sexual one. I make this warning to negate any complaints from readers protesting the explicit nature of the story. I am also not insensible to the views of much of QL fandom, and I personally have never viewed Sam or Al as gay or bi. I do not intend to ever write them as such, nor would I ever seek to impugn upon the fine careers of either Scott Bakula or Dean Stockwell in this manner (both of whom, I am told, object to QL slash in principle.) I have seen all episodes of Equalizer, and, I believe, all episodes of QL, so I don't want to hear any bitching about continuity (unless you have an observation to make about the internal continuity of this story.) We all know that the continuity of QL was terrible sometimes, not the least of which was Ziggy's sex change operation (which rather reminds me of the gender switch Data's cat, Spot, underwent in TNG). I have attempted to take into account all available information, both in the QL show and in fandom regarding the exact nature of a Leap transference. I take into account particularly "Mirror Image", the series finale, and the episodes "Raped", "Dreams" and "Killin' Time". I wish to thank Julie Kramer in Bothell, Washington, USA, for her contribution to the discussion about Leap transference. I make note that I have taken some liberties in order the make the story consistent, so please allow for it. Note also that I never could get any solid answer on how to spell Gooshie or Verbina Beeks, so I picked spellings that I liked. Further notes on stylistic devices: This story was, like all of my works, written with the printed medium in mind. I have modified this for upload to the net. These modifications include a standard convention of enclosing words inside underbars for emphasis (the _ symbol). I typically use // to indicate thoughts, which I retained here, but have also put // in the far left margin preceding and following blocks of text to indicate flashback sequences. Other mods to typeface, like bold and italics, have been omitted when I decided that the omission did not significantly detract from the meaning of the text. I welcome further comments, criticisms and inquiries concerning my facts, my technique, and/or my interpretation of the characters I deal with. In addition, the psychological natures of Control and McCall are the result of work I have spent some years at, and anyone interesting in my further works with these characters, and others in the Equalizer universe, is welcome to contact me. I also work fairly extensively with characters from Blakes 7 (most notably Avon, Vila, Soolin and Dayna). An extensive character study dealing with Avon in the TNG universe is in progress (yes, it is serious), along with a Babylon 5 piece.
