Freymuth Copyright 1997, 1998 Chapter 12 Roswell. The JFK Assassination. The Iran-Contra Affairs. None of these government cover-ups are greater than the one that is taking place at this very moment - a cover-up so well done that those involved are scared for their lives to reveal the truth. What is more, it is happening right in your back yard, in every time, in every place - and you the reader might be an unknowing victim. The cover-up: Project Quantum Leap - a top secret government-funded time travel project. Just science fiction, you say? Ask any of Dr. Beckett's associates and watch their reactions carefully. It's easy to see they are trying to cover- up the truth: that Dr. Samuel Beckett is travelling in time and changing history. Consider how Dr. Beckett's friends and family quickly avoid answering questions about Beckett's disappearance. Why? Why do they dodge the questions so quickly? Why haven't they gone tgo the police for assistance in finding him? Because they know where - and when - he is. Consider Dr. Samantha Josephine Fuller. When I first laid eyes on her, I could not help but notice her uncanny resemblance to Dr. Beckett. For good reason. Sources tell that Dr. Fuller is, in fact, Dr. Beckett's daughter. An interview with Mrs. Abagail Williams, Dr. Fuller's mother, proved informative. When asked about Dr. Fuller's father, the mention of Dr. Beckett's name caused Mrs. Williams to become angry and secretive. Consider Theresa Brookner. The famous artist, you say? Indeed! There is documentation that shows, when she was four years old, she was a witness to Dr. Beckett's travelling through time. She describes in detail how Dr. Beckett took her mother's place in the past - "a strange man in Mommie's clothes. His name's Angel Sam." Also, she says that "Angel Sam" had a partner - "Angel Al." It is interesting to know that Dr. Beckett's best friend is Admiral Albert Calavicci and that the two have worked together in projects since they met in 1984. It is also interesting to know that it was Admiral Calavicci who helped Miss Brookner to become the famous artist she is now, causing Miss Brookner's rags-to-riches story to become a reality. How else can these undeniable facts come to pass if bot because of time travel? Dr. Fuller, Dr. Beckett's daughter, was born in 1967. Dr. Beckett himself was fourteen in 1967 and was living with his parents in Indiana. Only his traveeling in time can explain Dr. Fuller's birth. You might say "so what? No harm done. Glad his theories are true." But there has been harm done. Dr. Beckett has effected everyone's life and not for the better. How about a new twist on the JFK conspiracy theory? Just before Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald, Oswald claimed that the government kidnapped him and interrogated him, violating his rights. Many have put his words down as the rantings of a lunatic. However, there is evidence that Dr. Beckett had leaped into Oswald - not once but five times. What is more, it was Dr. Beckett, not Oswald, who was in the Texas School Book Depository and shot President John F. Kennedy. Oswald was not the only onw to have claimed such interrogation. Hundreds of others, all over the world have been "kidnapped by the government" or "kidnapped by aliens", have "died and had an out-of-body experience", "gone to heaven" or "gone to hell." There is but one consistency with all of these reports: they all described an older man as visiting them, a man whose description is exactly like onw would give of retired Admiral Albert Calavicci. A little something for you to consider. I myself am tired of how Dr. Beckett is getting away with murder, theft, rape, adultery, treason - you name the offense, Dr. Beckett has done it in his time travels - with our own government's approval and with our tax dollars. Enough is enough! We need to demand the end of Project Quantum Leap, the arrest of everyone involved, the opening of all of the project's files. As American citizens, we have the right to know the truth. Al closed his eyes as he finished reading the article sent to him via email. "Oh, gawd," he said quietly. He pressed a button on his desk and waited. "Kalarco," Janet answered the call. "Janet, have you read that article yet?" Al asked somberly. "Not yet," Janet answered. "Why? What did Aptheker write?" Al exhaled. "Enough for the shit to hit the fan. Janet, we have to keep him from publishing that article, especially with how he makes Sam out to be another Adolf Hitler. You know, he actually accused Sam of killing Kennedy." "What?! That's ridiculous!" "Well, I can tell you that, if I were one of his readers, I'd believe it," Al told her firmly. "Al, if you were one of his readers, you'd believe that Jack the Ripper was really the Loch Ness Monster." Al huffed. "You know what I mean. It only takes a handful of people to believe him and we're through." Janet rubbed her forehead. "Yeah, I know." She took a deep breath. "I'll see if we can get that publication blocked. If I can't, then I don't know what we're going to do." "We could just shoot the bastard," Al suggested, seriously considering the option. "Tempting," Janet replied, "but not wise." "Then I guess we'll have to do this the hard way." He took a breath. "I'll talk to Aptheker and try to convince him of the wisdom of not publishing this atrocity he calls an article." "Not a chance, Admiral. It's already in print. It'll be on the newsstands tomorrow." Al glared at the curly-haired man, struggling to control his temper. "In that case, Mr. Aptheker, I suggest you either call and have those papers pulled or write an immediate apology to Sam Beckett, Dr. Fuller, Mrs. Williams, Theresa Brookner, and me." Dana shook his head. "I don't think so." He looked at Al carefully, trying to gauge Al's emotional state. Al looked as if nothing could phase him. Wearing a plain black suit and tie and covering his eyes with black sunglasses, he looked prepared to kill Aptheker if it was necessary. Dana smiled slightly. "You're scared of that article, aren't you? I know your'e trying to have it blocked but it won't be. Freedom of the press, remember?" "Since when does the freedom of the press allow you to print false stories about a good man? Sam Beckett is not a murderer, thief, rapist, or a traitor." Dana's smile widened. "You forgot adulterer." "I can't verify that. I wasn't around before he married. He could have slept with someone else before he married Donna Elesee," Al replied. "You mean, before he changed history so that he could marry Dr. Elesee," Dana crowed. "You really believe this crazy idea that Dr. Beckett is travelling in time?" Al asked, sounding incredulous. Dana walked slowly away from Al, crossing his apartment. He slowly sat on his couch and looked up at Al confidently. "I have a reliable source," he said calmly. Al approached him slowly. "Who?" he asked blandly. Dana laughed, "Do you really think that I am going to tell you?" Al looked at Aptheker, showing no emotion but feeling his stomach tighten into a knot. He didn't want to resort to threats but it was beginning to look like he'd have to. He couldn't blackmail Aptheker; despite Dana's tendency to dig around where he wasn't wanted, there was nothing about him that Al could use against him. "Do you remember what I said when we first met?" Al questioned in a dangerously quiet voice. Dana glared at him. "Don't try to threaten me, Admiral. It won't work. It wopn't stop the publication of the article and, if anything happens to me, it won't look god for you at all and you're already in enough trouble as it is." He tok a breath. "The fact is I've won and you lost and you will never be able to hurt anyone in the past again." He smiled broadly, confident of his win. Filled with rage, Al punched Aptheker solidly in the jaw and watched as the man sprawled to the floor. "Damn you, Aptheker! You have no fucking idea what you are doing! As always, all you can see is your precious dealine!" He stared for the door before turning to look at the reporter. "Whoever your source is, they're wrong. And you have just destroyed the lives of hundreds of people."
