Sam gave the young man standing on the sidewalk a second look as he walked down the steps of the church. "Excuse me?" he asked. "Why's everyone leaving? Where's the rice? Where's the happily married couple?" the man asked, "Don't tell me my fool sister finally came to her senses." "You, uh, you mean Lisa. Right?" Sam asked. "She's the only one who's getting married today, isn't she?" the man asked with a smile. He looked curiously at Sam and asked, "Are you alright, Wes?" "Uh, yeah." Sam said, thinking fast. He gestured towards the church and said, "They, uh, they've postponed the wedding. Lisa is having second thoughts." "I knew it!" the man said, "I knew she wasn't over you." He grinned and said, "Does this mean you two are finally getting back together?" Sam shook his head and replied, "Well, I, uh, I don't know. I doubt it. Once Lisa overcomes her anxiety, I'm sure she'll be all set to marry Jonathan again." "Well, for your sake, Wes, I hope she comes to her senses. She didn't appreciate what she had when you two were together. Now that she's stuck with him, she's realizing that she was better off with you." The man patted Sam on the back, and said, "Well, I guess I'll see you at dinner." "Dinner?" Sam asked. "Sure." the man replied, "You're still coming over, right? The whole family's looking forward to seeing you." He grinned and said, "Wait until Dad finds out that Lisa changed her mind. We'll never hear the ends of the 'I told you so's.'" He waved and left, leaving Sam staring after him curiously. "His name is Ralph Fraser. He's Lisa's younger brother." Al said walking into Sam's line of sight. "Where were you two minutes ago when I could have used that information?" Sam grumbled. "Hey, I can't always have perfect timing, Sam." Al said, defensively. Sam shrugged and asked, "Did Beakes talk to Wesley?" "She sure did." Al replied, "According to her, Wesley now claims he's ready to go on with his life. But she also said that he's having trouble doing that, because he's concerned about Lisa. He doesn't think she's happy." "Well he's right about that." Sam agreed, "She's definitely very confused right now." "Beakes thinks that if you could convince Lisa and Jon to invite Wes to the wedding, then Wes can realize that Lisa is going to be alright and will go on with his life. I ran that by Ziggy and he gives it a 96.6% chance." Sam glanced over his shoulder at the church and said, "I guess I'd better talk to her then." Al shook his head. "Not now, Sam. The situation is still too volatile, especially with Jon around. You can talk to her tonight after dinner." In response to Sam's questioning look, Al explained, "In the original history, Lisa visited her family tonight, to tell them that the wedding was being postponed until June eighth, and to convince them to attend this time. Your best bet is to talk to her then, when Jon isn't around to add to her confusion." "You're probably right. I'd better go and get ready for dinner." ____________________________________ ?
