It's taken a left turn, due to an unworkable orginal plot (which is now part of the subplot). If you have the original version of this teaser, please replace it with this one. I hope everyone enjoys this series. Parts 1-4 follow this psot. Wayne ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- PARADOX ------- A WildCard/Quantuum Leap story Prologue -------- It's a lousy morning for driving. Misty, making the roads slick, and just cold enough to be too cold for a light jacket, but still too warm for a heavy coat. As if that's not enough, Wayne has a lot on his mind lately. So much so that he's not giving the road his full attention, something that's a requirement given the current road condtions. Still and all, the accident was not his fault. Who could have predicted what was to happen next? Not even a time traveller like WildCard is ever fully prepared for it. A field of quantuum energy surrounds Wayne just as he begins a wide turn. Automatically, Wayne steps hard on the brakes just as he's teleported away, hoping to stop the car before he disappears. In Wayne's place, Sam Beckett suddenly appears, just in time to hear a loud cracking sound. Still applying hard pressure to the brakes, Sam turns the steering wheel of the car he's suddenly driving hard to the right, trying to avoid a branch the size of a tree limb that's just fallen and is now across three quarters of the road. It is Sam's leap-honed reflexes that save him from hitting the branch, which would have resulted in at least one punchered tire. Unforturnately, the combination of the hard turn, slammed brakes, and slick road is too much. The car fish tails, and skids to the side of the road, crashing into a fire hydrant just as the car was coming to a stop. The front quarter of the car is suddenly crunched, but the seat belt Sam's wearing prevents him from hitting his head against the windshield at the sudden stop. Getting out of the car, Sam curses his luck. Had the road not been so slick, and person he just leaped into not already stepping on the brakes, Sam knows he would never have skidded avoiding that fallen branch. Now, the car is no longer road worthy, and he has no idea of where or when he currently is. Sam reaches up with his right hand to brush some hair out of his eyes. It's then he notices the wide gold bracelet on his right wrist. Quickly checking his left wrist, Sam finds the matching bracelet. Recognising the almost 3 inch wide, gold colorred bracelets (and the strange symbols engraved on them), and thus now knowing who's life he's leaped into, Sam's only comment is a discoraging, "Oh, boy!" -- _ __ _ __ Remember: The WildCard always stacks ' ) / // / / ) / the deck in his favor.
