Willard "But we just figured out how to retrieve him. Now his body's not even here," cried Sammie Jo, "What the hell's going on, Ziggy!" "I'm sorry Sammie Jo, but I have nothing on the whereabouts of our father. Remember, we are half sisters." "Yeah, but I'm not the one who has the ego." "Sam will be back, Dr. Fuller," said Donna, "very soon. I hope!" "Amen," added Admiral Calavicci, returning from the empty Waiting Room from which his best friend had disappeared, "we can't give up hope yet!" "I know how to get him back!" Sammie Jo exclaimed suddenly, and walked over and began to put on a fermisuit. "What are you doing, Dr. Fuller?" Ziggy asked her half- sister, and then the computer realized what was up, though nobody else did, "No. It'll never work. And what good would it do then?" "A lot!" Sammie Jo snapped, "There are a hell of a lot worse things to do with your life then what Sam Beckett does, and personally, I wouldn't mind doing the same!" She walked into the Acceleration Chamber. "Now leap me!" "No." ************************************************ "I'm going to miss having your help, Sam. You are a truly kind man, and you deserve to live the rest of your life to it's fullest." "If you really need me, I can continue..." "No, Dr. Beckett. It's somebody else's turn. Good-bye and thanks for your help. Enjoy your new life." "I will." Sam leaped ************************************************* "Get out of there, Sammie," said Al, "Ziggy's not going to do that and you know it!" "No!" she cried, "I have to. I have to get him back!" Suddenly the Acceleration Chamber filled up with bright blue light. The light was so blinding that everybody in the control room immediately covered their eyes in pain. Seconds later the light was gone, and Al was the first to regain focus. He saw Dr. Beckett step down out of the Acceleration Chamber. "Sam! You're back!" Al exclaimed, and then he grew concerned, "Where's Sammie Jo?" "Sammie Jo? Isn't she in here with the rest of you?" "No, Dr. Beckett," Ziggy replied, "She was in the Acceleration Chamber at the time you returned. She wanted to leap and find you, but I refused to do it. It appears as though she's leaping anyway, though." The hybrid computer let out a mechanical sigh, "I will miss her." "You really liked her didn't you? Wait...he said it was 'someone else's turn.'" "What?" asked Al, "Who?" "Whatever was leaping me around told me that just before I returned, which is why I wasn't here. I think it was God, Al. Anyway, he said somebody else would be leaping now. And it's Sammie Jo." "Oh, boy," the two friends said in unison, looking up at Ziggy. Donna rushed over to her husband and they embraced. The End *** Theorizing that she could retreive her father from the past, Dr. Samantha Fuller stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. She awoke to find herself trapped in the past, facing mirror images that were not her own. Her main companion on this journey is Ziggy, a hybrid computer from her own time developed by Dr. Beckett, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Samantha is able to see and hear. And so Dr. Fuller finds herself leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong, and each time hoping that the next leap will be the leap home.
