From: ps70awg@rs4.tcs.tulane.edu (Mel Rupinski) Newsgroups: alt.ql.creative Subject: Roundtable Story #6 notes Date: 10 Feb 1994 04:26:47 GMT Organization: Tulane University, New Orleans, LA Message-Id: <2jcd27$t14@news.cs.tulane.edu> I guess the first thing that I should mention here is why this story uses the same leap-in as the last one (Marsh's). Well, as it turns out whoever was supposed to be before me dropped out of the roundtable at the last second, which left me an insufficient amount of time to the the proper research to do Marsh's leap-out justice (I am very unknowledgeable about that era of history, unfortunately). So it was suggested that I either make up my own leap-in, or use the previous one. I took the latter option in order to keep some semblance of integrity to the Roundtable. And living in New Orleans, it was relatively easy to describe Mardi Gras. Anyhow, the net result is a sort of "temporal loop" -- the next story will use the leap-out from my story, and the one after that will pick up from Marsh's story. My apologies for the confusion. As for substance, I drew heavily on personal experience to write this story (Mardi Gras is one of my favorite events!), but none of the events actually happened. As for the characters, they were also based on friends of mine, but there names, and the names of some of the places have been changed to protect the guilty. The one thing I did find a little difficult, however, was trying to translate my impression of Mardi Gras into one Sam might have. I hope it works. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the story. Any and all comments are welcome. -mtr -- |Mel Rupinski | If you think | |Department of Psychology | of anything clever | |Tulane University | to put here | |ps70awg@mailhost.tcs.tulane.edu | please let me know! |
