SUBMIT BY Christina Fraser The blue light slowly cleared from Sam's vision and the disorienting effect slowly receded. Sam found himself in a small room with a family of cockroaches as company. The room was dark and damp, with a horrible musky smell. His hands were tightly tied behind his back with rope. A slight breeze could be felt against his barely clothed body. With the little light available, Sam was able to see what he was dressed in, a long tatted skirt and a dirty torn blouse. "Oh Boy" Mexico Desert 1998 Admiral Albert Calavicci was driving his experimental sports car down the deserted desert road. The car was eating up the dirt at 160mph. The destination was a small mountain where project Quantum Leap was situated. In a good relaxed mood, Al was listening to the Beatles. He had just finished a hot date in Las Vegas, and was still smiling in remembrance. Suddenly, like a bucket of cold water, a loud sharp beeping noise could be heard. Turning the music off Al typed a five digit access code into his wrist link to Ziggy. " Yea, what's up? " " Admiral, we seem to have a problem..." The voice sounded flustered and worried. Slowing the car down Al continued to talk. " Calm down Gooshie, what happened? " " Um, well sir, it would seem that Dr. Beckett has leaped, the main problem is that we can't get a lock. " Frowning at this Al went on to say. " What about the person in the Waiting room, have they talked yet? " " No sir, it would seem that the person is in some form of coma. Dr. Beek's is running some tests now. " Sounding a little worries Al's response was simple. " Gooshie, have Ziggy fire up the Imaging Chamber, and run a few scenarios going on Dr. Beek's results, I'll be there in ten minutes. " Closing the link to Gooshie, Al stepped on the gas. From the distance all that could be seen was a large dust cloud. #################### For the Tenth time, Sam wondered were Al was. Sam relied very heavily on Al, but was always to busy to realise it. The little light that was there had disappeared almost two hours ago. The one thing that was constant in a leap was Sam's sense of time. Finding it hard to move, Sam was left sitting in the one spot, getting a sore bottom, and dead arms. He could not feel his fingers, the rope must have cut off all the circulation. At first Sam was okay in the dark, then unease started to set in. Something about this leap did not feel right. Sam had developed a sort of feel for his leaps. He had a rough feeling of what was suppose to happen. This leap felt dark, as if the person he was to help was himself, and from what, was most probably death. A slight shiver when down his spine as he thought this. Suddenly a heavy wooden door opened with a squealing noise, which hurt Sam's ears. Blinding light filled the room making Sam wince. Before Sam could open his eyes the door was shut again, leaving Sam alone with a stranger. Making small cooing noises the man came closer. He was tall and very muscular. His hair was thinning at the top. Sam guessed his age at about forty-five. In his hand was a small plate of food, not much, just some mashed potatoes and small pieces of sausage. There was also a glass of red liquid in the other. " Oh, it is so good to see you awake. I brought you some food. Don't be afraid, here let me feed you. " With what seemed genuine concern, the man feed Sam slowly. Sam had not realised how hungry he was. Once he was finished, he was given the drink. Looking a little concerned, the man tried to reassure Sam by telling he that it was only ribena, to keep her strength up. With a little nod, Sam drank the drink. As soon as Sam had finished the drink, the man stood up. " Now, you have a good sleep because in the morning young miss, you will have to face another therapy session. " With that the man was gone. With his hands still tied, Sam laid down on his side as best he could. He was feeling a little bit out of it. It did not take long for Sam to realise that he had been drugged. The last thing Sam thought before blacking out was, were was Al? ########################### ____________________________________________________________________________ Well what do you think, email me with all comments email: Christina.Fraser@jcu.edu.au
