Yes… it’s me… I’m back again! I know it’s a scary thing… but it’ll be okay all…. Thanks for letting me come back, Brian.

As a viewer of the entertainment realm one must openly embrace the characters on the screen and let the world of any show pull you into its grasp. Any show that you have watched that caught you eye – stimulated your mind, or even caught you off guard has done this to you. Me? You may ask. Heck yes! You!!

Any fans out there of:

Land of the Lost

Jurassic Park
Planet of the Apes
Nightmare on Elm Street

Magnum P.I.

Butterfly Effect

MacGuyver

The Simpsons

Dukes of Hazzard

Lord of Illusions

The 70’s Show

Timeline

Star Trek

Farscape

Aliens

The Lord of the Rings

Cops

Everyone Loves Raymond

Lethal Weapon

Survivor

Trading Spaces

Pirates of the Caribbean

Superman

And the last but certainly not the least:

Quantum Leap?

Come on… admit it. In some small way, one of these or more has caught your eye. It sucked you in – whether it be scary or humorous, to real in your face, the eye-beauty of someone or perhaps it was just plain odd – you have bought into the idea for at least one episode.

Quantum Leap was able to do this. As long as you had an open mind to the possibility of Sam leaping into a woman, into a black man, into a chimpanzee (yes, I know for some it was too much of a stretch) – but you still let it happen. You opened yourself up to the possibility.

That is what held Quantum Leap together. The watchers of Quantum Leap expected a possible outcome. Donald Bellasario as well as Deborah Pratt and all the other writers made sure that Sam and Al were able to do it.

What is the point of all of this you may ask? Well – to just point out an obvious. Quantum Leap opened eyes; Quantum Leap opened souls, Quantum Leap opened hearts and showed us how someone could make a difference.

Bounds

Is Quantum Leap bounded onto itself? Can the thought of moving around in time be used in any other television show? We can see this in other shows. Point and case: Enterprise. We have recently seen posts on the board about how Enterprise is traveling in Time to "correct a wrong". How could they!? Should they!? Well… they have before. Another point and case: Star Trek IV. The crew went back in time to save the earth in the future. Then there is Star Trek: First Contact. Another leap in Time.

So… Star Trek has done this before with leaps in Time. In this writer’s opinion – they will probably continue to do this even if Scott Bakula hadn’t been cast. Die-hard ST fans will gripe and complain – well, let them. It seems you can’t please everyone and that’s okay.

*Shrugs*

Thankfully, we as QL fans over analyze episodes and keep an open mind to new concepts. Why? We had to for the show and we grew with it.

Soaring In The Clouds…

Recently, an avid fighter of spinal stem research died from an infected bedsore. We all know this 52-year-old man who entered our hearts some time ago and left it just as suddenly. Christopher Reeves made a quantum leap in his life – being a man of value and a heart that beat beyond his body. May we all be as avid about something in our life as Christopher was in his life. He may not be physically with us – but we will forever remember his as the superhero of us all.
