Hey Yo, Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward appears to be officially confirmed now. Check out the following link for all the latest details. Click Here On with the show….JFK 40 years ago, John F Kennedy was gunned down. Conspiracy theories have been voiced, and shot down. Accusations have been levied at the government/foreign governments/Fanatical groups etc. Whatever you believe happened that day; you will agree that it was a tragic day that need not have happened. The Rod can think of 2 theatrical presentations, which has handled this very serious incident with the levity it deserved. The 1992 Major motion picture "JFK" starring Kevin Costner, and Quantum Leap. You are gonna have to forgive The Rod on this one as His point of view will no doubt differ from many of you, but He is going to voice it for you anyway: He isn’t entirely sure of all the facts, having watched many a documentary on it, and recently for this article, having studied a lot of online documents (including gross pictures at www.rotten.com yeuch!) it is The Rod’s opinion that Lee Harvey Oswald did indeed assassinate JFK. The 3 bullets fired all came from LHO’s rifle. Ok, there is still an element of doubt about certain aspects of who was pulling LHO’s strings, but The Rod remains sure that LHO pulled the trigger. But that wasn’t always the case: For years, until recently that is, The Rod was convinced that LHO could not have possibly pulled off the shots which cut JFK down, for years He believed in the magic bullet theory and the shooter on the grassy knoll etc. The film "JFK" was a major factor in this belief, it led you down Oliver Stone’s beliefs, he himself has admitted most of what he did with the film was "Artistic Licence". What started to change The Rod’s mind was when He watched the Quantum Leap Episode "Lee Harvey Oswald" a few weeks ago. Al voiced all the conspiracy theories, but in the end, Sam leapt out just as LHO was pulling the trigger. In this dramatisation of the day, there were no grassy knoll gunmen; no CIA, Russian or Mafia plots involving LHO to kill JFK. It was just a mentally ill man out to make a mark. You are probably wondering what The Rod is raving about, and probably thinking to yourself that never mind Oswald; perhaps The Rod Himself is mentally ill. His point is this: Oliver Stone received critical acclaim for "JFK", his "tweaking" of the facts has confused a lot of people, and until recently, The Rod was one of these people. Quantum Leap, a science fiction show which deals in the extraordinary, in the make believe, dealing with things that will NEVER happen (Well, not in The Rod’s lifetime anyway), was perhaps 100% accurate with the manner in which this heinous act was portrayed. So wait a minute, aren’t Sci Fi shows meant to be all about telling wild imaginative stories???? Why would LHO be such a historically accurate episode, when the rest of the history of the show took great whopping liberties with other historical facts???? Sam Beckett taking credit for a great many things through history. Helping Buddy Holly, helping The King of Rock N Roll Elvis Presley, involved with the Watergate scandal and so on. Why?? Perhaps its because Donald P. Bellisario encountered Oswald whilst he was distributing the "Hands off Cuba" literature. Perhaps DPB feels personally connected with what happened that day, 19th November 1963. Perhaps because the murder of a president was the most unthinkable act back then, DPB has decided not to make his own theories on what happened overtake the historical facts. Perhaps in 2029, when all the evidence is unsealed and made public, perhaps then new evidence will bring forward a CIA plot to kill Kennedy, thereby allowing Vietnam to go ahead. Perhaps then, Old Rod will realise that LHO had nothing to do with the killing, ad that there had been 3 or 4 shooters all over Deeley plaza. Until then, one can only thank Quantum Leap, for keeping things "in perspective", unlike certain Bib Money Earning, Big Name Directors The Rod could mention…… He is not going to TRY and say this is On Topic! Ok, So now there is an "announced" title…. Quantum Leap: A Bold Leap Forward…. If the leapers are to assume that this in itself is progress, and that the Jamokies in power are actually going ahead with Quantum Leap it leaves The Rod with a very, VERY important question: Just what the HELL is He gonna talk about??? It would seem that DPB and his associates are going ahead after all with QL, if the information over at www.imdb.com is in fact correct. Regardless of whom the main leaper is, and will Scott be in it and so on, The Rod feels that He and The Leapers have Won!! With this, you would think The Rod would be happy and content. However, all is NOT well in RodVille! Not even His prized collection of RodKini Pictures can cheer Him up these days. You see, The Rod LOVES Star Wars, He loves The Phantom Menace and Loved Attack of The Clones. The only problem He has with anything even slightly related to the Star Wars Universe is the whole Darth Vader thing. Star Wars Episode 3 is apparently almost finished filming. However, it would seem that although Darth Vader WILL be present for most of the film, it wont actually BE Darth Vader (The Great David Prowse), instead the Jamokies have gotten it into their moronic heads that young Hayden Christensen will instead wear The vaunted (and lets face it, feared) Vader attire and mask. Now lets just look at the simple problems with this first:
