Rodvision

A Quantum Spin Off

How would a new film deal with Quantum Leap without its main star?

This was what The Rod had been contemplating, then a Hot Rodder provided a very intriguing idea within feedback to the last RodVision.

*This idea belongs to Dan Goff. The Rod wishes to thank Dan for this brilliant idea.

"In my personal opinion, I almost think that if Quantum were to continue...it would be neat if Bruce McGill as Bartender Al would take over as lead character. Just imagine, Quantum Leap saga cell opening with Bartender Al voiceover as past images of Sam and Al cross the screen and leap out.

Sure, Quantum Leap would not be the same without Sam and Al, but it could also follow in the paths of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was thinking that Al's Place could be the new Waiting Room of sorts as various people enter the bar confused, yet at peace...thinking they have entered heaven, when in reality Bartender Al keeps them guessing about what changes need to be made in their lives in order for them to come back."

The Rod feels this idea is brilliant, plus it would allow Quantum leap to start over, without Sam or Al.

With this in mind, The Rod read that Patrick Stewart last week announced at the London Premiere of Star Trek: Nemesis that this Star Trek film is likely to be his last outing as Jean-Luc Picard.

The creators of Star Trek have already said that while this may be the last Next Generation film, it will NOT be the last Trek film. There is talk of an Enterprise Feature film. So Scott would have his hands tied up with that, and maybe not be ABLE to appear in the QL film.

The following post is courtesy of www.startrekuk.com

"Although it may be the final outing for the Next Generation cast, a big screen version of newest Star Trek series Enterprise could be on the cards. Director Stuart Baird said: "It may be the last film with these characters but it certainly isn't the last Star Trek film.""

Perhaps a spin off from the original is what Sci Fi are planning, in which case perhaps Bruce McGill should clear his diary, playing God is a BIG role.

Doanld P Bellisario Taking The Leap?

This week news broke that indicates Donald P Bellisario is actually in bed with Sci Fi on the new Quantum Leap movie.

About time:

"
DPB is writing a feature, a pilot for a series he wants to do in
Australia, starting preliminary work on Quantum Leap for Sci-fi
channel and writing the spin off with Don McGill, which DPB will
also direct

"

The Rod appreciates that all Rodternet talk is not always 100% truthful. However, when someone as trusted and respected as Tina_Als_Girl broadcasts the above from her sources, people tend to take note and watch.

A Quantum Comeback

There are so many different theories on Mirror Image and on Sam’s leaping in general, maybe its about time that the creator of Quantum Leap stepped in and sorted this all out.

Now it is known that DPB is on board with this Sci Fi QL movie, and maybe he will coax Scott & Dean to return and reprise their roles.

However, if Quantum Leap were to return to our screens in a TV Movie, but NOT resolve the Dr Beckett situation, DPB could get together with some writers and have a DPB Authorised novel resolving Sam Beckett’s quest, or even a DPB authorised comic resolving the story.

Hey Donald, if you are looking for writers to help you, try Al’s Place. There is an abundance of talented writers here!

Or maybe you already have…

***Merry Christmas***
