The women are in control as FANDOM ENTANGLEMENT returns for the sixth in our series of retro reviews for SLIDERS! This time, we’re taking a look at Season 1, Episode 7 (or rather, Episode 6 in story continuity order), “The Weaker Sex”…
FANDOM ENTANGLEMENT: SLIDERS Episode 1x07 — "The Weaker Sex"
[Original airdate: 05/03/95]
Arturo finds himself in a potentially deadly mayoral race on a world where men are treated as “the weaker sex” and women hold the positions of power and influence.
This episode was written by Dawn Prestwich & Nicole Yorkin and directed by Vern Gillum.
Amada Anderson is an actress/singer/tour guide/entrepreneur who works for The Murder Mystery Company (recently featured on ABC’s Shark Tank). She also runs two businesses: New York Broadway Tours and Winter Haven Food Tours.
She & co-host Liane Fisher Bloxam are joined by their man servants (sorry, associates) me (Damon Sugameli) & Mike Bloxam (MikeKraken), as we discuss this cautionary tale about role reversal in a female-dominated society and debate how realistic it actually would have been if women took control of a male-dominated world hundreds of years ago. Would war and violence truly be a thing of the past? Would the stereotypical male/female roles be so easily reversed on a Woman’s World? And is Arturo truly as sexist as this episode makes him out to be? We ask these types of questions and more. Hope you enjoy our analysis and review!
