Hi everyone :)

This may sound like a silly question but anyway....

Anyone know what the equivalent to a statutory Declaration is in the U.S.A.?

I ask because I just started a graphic design job and am supposedly receiving a bag of cash as a gift, to get me off the ground.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
 
Can you explain what a statutory declaration is?

If you were in the US, you would be expected to report the cash on your income tax , but you're in Australia, right?
 
I live in the U.S., but I would like to know what a Statutory Declaration is. I read the definition on Wikipedia.com, but I think I need a human definition of what it is.
