There is only one Quantum Leap, the original series. The remake shares it's name and that's it.Theres an old saying. You can't go home again. Usually that's true. Times changed, and the time to bring the series back was decades ago, with the original cast and crew. The ship sailed on that long ago.
The tragedy is that the original series had such a short run and that Donald Belisario never saw fit to bring the ORIGINAL show back, decades ago with the original actors and crew,or at the very least give the series and it's fans the closure they deserved with a proper ending, even if it was only a tv movie reuniting Dean and Scott to bring Sam home.
The ONLY reason this website exists is because of love for the ORIGINAL series and the chemistry between Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell on screen that made the show work, as well as the talented people behind the scenes, most who were veterans of the industry. It was a product of its time and place and the people involved.
One wouldn't go into a museum and paint over a Picasso or Rembrant and attempt to pass it off to fans of that artists work.
All of these "reboots" are horrible. "Lost In Space","Hawaii 5-0","Magnum Pi.","Knight Rider" without David Hasselhoff where Kitt is a Mustang. It never ends. It's just lazy filmmaking and a crass attempt to cash in on the name recognition of a preexisting commodity. All of these shows seem to be made by people who either havent seen or don't understand why and what made the original series so beloved.
The original Magnum was a hit because of the chemistry between John Hillerman and Tom Selleck as well as Larry Manetti and Roger Mosely. The show also had good writing, directing and music.
Can you imagine someone trying to remake "The Andy Griffith show" without Andy Griffith or Don Knotts and set in these times? Or "The Rockford Files" without James Garner,Stuart Margolin and Noah Beery Jr.? When a beloved pet or family member passes you don't run out and replace them with a different person and name them after the loved one who passed. No,you honor their memory and are grateful for good times you had and cherish what you had. You realize they were unique and special and irreplaceable.
Scott and Dean were and always will be the only Sam and Al. Period.
